Meals are provided by Warminster School, who cook our delicious school meals to order in line with the Nutritional Standards for UK schools.
A new menu will be sent to you every week, and there will be two choices each day, one of which is vegetarian. There is usually a fish option on a Friday.
All meals must be ordered and paid for (KS2 children) in advance – by 9.30am on Thursday for the following week. Please see the menu/order form for more information about how to place orders.
Alternatively, children may bring a packed lunch.
Please click here to go to the school meals order form and menu page.
As parents are aware, these lunches are free for all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 under the government’s Universal Infant Free School Meals Scheme. Meals will need to be ordered in advance from the menus provided, as described below.
Parents of children in years 3, 4, 5 and 6 have the option of purchasing meals for their children at the subsidised cost of £2.30. If you think you may be entitled to free school meals for your children because you receive qualifying benefits, please obtain an application form from the school office or apply online to Wiltshire Council at http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/schools-learning-free-school-meals.
Register for free school meals to help our school
If your child is eligible for free school meals, it’s worth registering them even if they’re not going to have the school lunch. This is because schools receive a ‘pupil premium’ – an extra payment of £1320 for each eligible child to support learning. Registering might also get you extra help for things like PE kit and school trips.
Even if your child is already receiving a Universal Infant Free School Meal (because they are in reception, year 1 or year 2), the Government will give New Close School the Pupil Premium if you are receiving qualifying benefits.
For the school and your child to benefit from this money we need to know that you are receiving a qualifying benefit (see below). Please complete the claim form which is available from the school office or you can apply online to Wiltshire Council http://www.wiltshire.gov.uk/schools-learning-free-school-meals.
The qualifying benefits are:
- Income Support
- Job Seeker’s Allowance (income-based)
- Employment and Support Allowance (income-related)
- support under part six of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
- the Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
- Child Tax Credit – providing you are NOT entitled to Working Tax Credit and your family’s annual income (as assessed by HMRC) is not more than £16,190 (as at 6 April 2012)
- Working Tax Credit ‘run-on’ – the payment you may receive for a further four weeks after you stop qualifying for Working Tax Credit
- Universal Credit
